Getting Started with Type 2 Diabetes - Build confidence and skills to live well

If you have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, you might be feeling unsure or have lots of questions. This welcoming group will provide the essential information and practical tips you need to begin managing your diabetes and supporting your health. 
 
In this supportive 2 ½ - hour group session you will learn: 
  • what type 2 diabetes is and how it affects your body 

  • why managing your blood glucose levels is important 

  • how to monitor your blood glucose and what your targets should be 

  • healthy eating and physical activity tips to support your diabetes management 

  • an introduction to medications and how they help 

  • where to find ongoing support and trusted information 

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with other people going through a similar experience. 
 
The group is delivered by both a Diabetes Nurse Educator and an Accredited Practising Dietitian. 
 
 
Please note that this program is only suitable for adults age.
